Landlord fined nearly £1,000 for ignoring fly-tipping mess

Renters lose £169m in deposit interest every year – Claim Generation Rent

Private renters across England and Wales are being deprived of £169 million in potential interest from their tenancy deposits each year, Generation Rent says.

It says that with £5.37 billion in deposits held in government-accredited schemes generate just £17 million in benefits annually under the current system.

Tenants face becoming ‘lifetime renters’

Around 2.2 million would-be first-time buyers have been locked out of the property market since 2006, research reveals.

According to the Building Societies Association (BSA), there’s a growing crisis for renters, particularly those aged 25-44.

The BSA found that 59% of those tenants said they expected to own a home by now but remain stuck in rented accommodation.
