Bank of England reduce Bank Base Rate by 0.25% despite inflationary Budget
The Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) Hawks won out today voting by 8 – 1 to reduce the Bank Base rate by 0.25% from 5% to 4.75%.
This was despite a recent Labour Budget widely perceived as inflationary as the Bank of England projects the measures announced by Chancellor Rachel Reeves to add 0.5% to the inflation figures.

UK house prices hit new record high
The average UK house price edged up 0.2% in October despite the economic uncertainty, marking the fourth consecutive monthly increase, Halifax reveals.
It means a typical property price has reached a new record high of £293,999.

Most landlords not deterred from investing after SDLT rise
While the looming threat of a capital gains tax (CGT) hike had landlords worried in the lead-up to last week’s Autumn Budget, the increase in stamp duty on second homes seems to be a lesser concern.
A survey from estate and letting agents Benham and Reeves found that nearly one-fifth (19%) of landlords had paused their buy to let investment plans due to the potential CGT increase.
